Ring Doorbell added a new feature to help the millions of pets find their way back home.
Ring is now offering a Smart Tag for your pet’s collar that will allow good Samaritans to scan a QR code that will connect with a Ring profile with information about your pet and you.
The device will also allow communication via its Ring Neighbors to safely connect owners to the people finding their missing pets.
This follows other similar functionality that Ring has invested time and effort into related to owners’ furry friends.
Ring has encouraged its millions of customers to provide updates and warnings of break-ins, accidents, and lost pets through its Ring Neighbors platform for years.
In addition, Ring partnered with PetCo to connect ring users to a network of 2500 animal shelters nationwide to help reconnect lost pets with owners.
Ring was founded by entrepreneur Jamie Siminoff in his garage in 2013.
Siminoff crowd-sourced the company and appeared on Shark Tank to get his vision rolling.
Ring provides a variety of home security devices that have turned the more established security service industry on its head.
Four years later, in early 2018, Siminoff sold the company to Amazon in a deal that topped a billion dollars.
66% of US homes have a dog or cat as a family member.
Many homes welcomed new pets into the house during the COVID lockdown.
Ring’s new offering is a simple but smart new feature that leverages its growing user base and is sure to have wide appeal.
