Microsoft has spent billions on its partnership with OpenAI, and the company seems anxious to begin recouping its investment.
The company began marketing its 365 Copilot to businesses last year but required companies to invest in 300 or more licenses.
Over 40% of Fortune 100 companies participated in its early access program.
Recently, Microsoft opened Copilot to consumers and has dropped the number of licenses required for businesses, giving access to small and mid-sized businesses.
Priced at $20 per user per month, Copilot Pro grants access to generative AI features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote for Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscribers.
Operating as a premium add-on, Copilot Pro enhances Microsoft 365 capabilities, performing such tasks as writing, editing, summarizing, generating text, creating presentations, and assisting with email drafting.
Subscribers receive 100 daily boosts in Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator), enhanced image generation quality, and landscape formatting options.
The license includes priority access to the latest GenAI models, including OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, and ensures optimal performance during peak times.
Future updates will allow users to switch between models and utilize Copilot GPT Builder for personalized chatbots tailored to specific topics.
This move now makes Copilot available to organizations subscribed to Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Business Standard, E3 and E5, or Office 365 E3 and E5.
Notable differences include Copilot integration in Teams for real-time summaries and action items, catering to enterprise needs.
A free mobile app for Copilot, supporting GPT-4 and DALL-E 3 for image creation, enhances the user experience across devices.
Microsoft prioritizes language diversity and will expand Copilot support to Arabic, Czech, Danish, Dutch, and more in the first half of 2024.
Microsoft’s strategic move aims to attract paying customers, enhance existing services, and cater to a broader user base while maintaining a focus on innovation and customization.
